Three Reasons To Love Spring Family Photos

What thoughts and feelings come to mind when you hear the word Spring?

As as PNW family photographer in Kirkland, I think of more daylight, fresh air, blooming flowers, and most importantly a renewed and positive mindset. Everyone enjoys the feeling of a fresh new start.

Why not capitalize on all those good vibes and let spring be the backdrop for your next family photo session?

Spring creates joy-filled images.

After being cooped up during winter, kids and adults alike are eager to get outside, absorb some vitamin D, and enjoy a little fresh air. These ingredients are sure to bring authentic smiles to your family’s faces as we play a few games, snuggle, and tickle during your outdoor photo session.

Spring photos are symbolic of your growing family.

Time is fleeting, and this is the number one reason families want their loved ones captured in photographs. Growth and change seem even more inevitable when we watch our children fly through the stages of development. Yet in each of these stages is a beautiful opportunity to commemorate how far we’ve come and where we are now.

Spring provides the perfect symbolism of this sentiment with baby birds chirping, plants growing and blooming, and new life budding - fresh air and optimism are the perfect components of a meaningful family photo session.

You can enjoy a light and airy color palette for your spring family photos.

Purple, pink, fresh white, and airy blues - every time you walk by your wall of beautiful family photographs taken in spring, you’ll be inspired by cheerful, light, and airy colors. Finding inspiration in a spring color palette when deciding what your family should wear is easy! Peaches and pinks bring out warm skin tones and almost everyone can find soft blues already in their closet from a denim jacket to soft washed jeans. Spring also allows for romantic or whimsical floral prints, and lighter-weight, comfortable clothing.

Why put off until later what you can do today?

Although many families think fall is the obvious time of year to have their pictures taken, parks are often more crowded with other families being photographed, family schedules are busier with the holidays quickly approaching, and weather can be very unpredictable in the fall months in Seattle. (Wondering what my weather policy is? Check it out here.)

Instead of waiting until there is so much pressure around getting your pictures taken, mark family photos off your list earlier in the year (during the months of April-June) when photographer’s schedules are more flexible, and enjoy the change of pace having your family photos taken in the spring can bring.
